Course Description

Electrical components and circuits, tools & measuring instruments, fasteners, use of SI Metric system, mechanical fittings (tubing, pipe, hose and fittings), and taps, dies, drills as they are used in maintenance of equipment and systems. The course will take all of the individual technical areas of mechanical and electrical systems you will find on the equipment on your factory floor and study them in regards to maintenance of complete integrated systems. The course will help you improve your maintenance troubleshooting skills and give you a better overall understanding of how electrical and mechanical devices operate and how to troubleshoot and service them. The goal of this course is to take the information that is provided and use it to analyze problems, and troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems at your site. You will also learn how to reduce costly downtime through proper maintenance practices. This course will teach people to look beyond individual components and start to look at their equipment as complete systems.

Course Outline

  1. Use SI Metric system to measure components and convert the data to use to order replacement parts.
  2. Use wiring tables to properly select wiring sizes for installing machines.
  3. Properly identify and select tubing, pipe, hoses and fittings for replacement parts.
  4. Properly select drills, taps and dies to repair and create threaded components.
  5. Troubleshoot a complete operating system and find mechanical problems.
