Course Description

This is an advanced course on troubleshooting principals of pneumatics. Students should have previous experience in pneumatics prior to taking this course. The emphasis on this course is to give the student the knowledge to understand troubleshooting pneumatic components and systems as well as electrical controlled and PLC controlled pneumatic systems. Pneumatic blue prints and Pneumatic Simulation Software will be used to demonstrate and explain all pneumatic components, circuits and troubleshooting principals.

Course Outline

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of basic pneumatic principles used in troubleshooting pneumatic systems.
  2. Identify the symbols of pneumatic components in pneumatic electrical and PLC diagrams.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding troubleshooting of the major components in an industrial pneumatic system including compressors, pressure control, flow control and directional control valves, actuators and air preparation systems.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot a pneumatic control system.
